katrinem lives and works in Linz, Austria, and Berlin. Research in sound and space has long been an integral part of katrinem’s artistic work. An extensive training in classical music (violin/viola) with constant performance practice (orchestra, ensemble) formed the initial broad base that led to a specialization in spatial interpretations and new performance practices. Steps, marching rhythms and their traces in public space were themes already explored in her master’s degree in composition. For more than 12 years, Katrinem has been investigating the walkability of cities and their associated spatial perception in her artistic research. Two aspects of her current research and artistic process stand out: the observation of a place (Platzstudien) and the personal experience of space while walking (SchuhzuGehör_path of awareness). For the project GANGARTEN (go your gait! part_6), katrinem received a scholarship from Linz Export and with gaits in albufeira (go your gait! part_13) she was awarded in the competition Europe – a sound panorama. katrinem continuously expands, challenges and refines her individual approaches to the topic of sound and space through exchange and collaborations with artists and researchers. Her joint works with artists and researchers such as Gernot Böhme, Annea Lockwood, Bruce Odland, Holger Schulze, Penelope Wherli, among others, are worth mentioning.
